Partnership and collaboration

  • Road Accident Data Enhancement and Development (RADED), a research project to develop a national road accident databased, funded and in collaboration with Brunei Darussalam National Road Safety Council (MKKJR), Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications, Royal Brunei Police Force, Land Transport Department, Brunei Insurance and Takaful Association, 5 motor insurance companies, Ministry of Health, and E-Government National Centre – on-going.
  • Laboratory investigation of polymer stabilised road pavement, PhD and MSc by research projects in collaboration with local geotechnical companies – on-going
  • Application of GIS And Road Safety Audit to Identify and Validate Safety Impact of Alternate Road Lighting, a research project conducted for MKKJR and sponsored by Insurans Islam TAIB General Takaful (IITGT) Sdn. Bhd. – on-going
  • An Investigation into Road Safety Modelling using Critical Vehicle Manoeuvres and Historical Traffic Crashes, a PhD project conducted for MKKJR in coloration with a local oil company – on-going
  • Technical Crash Investigation (Basic Level), training course project jointly organised with MKKJR, IITGT and Crash Reconstruction Unit of Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS)

Funded projects

The following project funded by the Brunei Research Council (BRC) was completed in March 2017:

  • Road Infrastructure Safety Study (RISaS) (September 2013 – March 2017)

The following project funded by the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications is currently on-going and expected to be completed in December 2020:

  • Road Accident Data Enhancement and Development (RADED) (June 2019 – December 2020)

The following two projects funded by the UTB internal grant were completed in July 2018:

  • An investigation into the safety performance of Jalan Tutong (August 2017 – July 2018)
  • Review of design guidelines for rainfall-induced slope failures in Brunei Darussalam

The following project funded by the UTB internal grant is ongoing and will be completed in April 2021:

  • Laboratory investigation of polymer stabilised aggregate layer and dry-mixed rubberised asphalt for road pavement

The following research proposal was submitted to the Brunei Research Council (BRC), and is currently under consideration for funding:

  • Optimal design of public bus network in Brunei Darussalam using transport modelling

The following research proposal was submitted to the ASEAN University Network/Southeast Asia Engineering Education Development Network (AUN/SEED-Net), and is currently under consideration for funding:

  • Hazard Mapping and risk assessment of haze in Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore
