CfTR is an active member of the BNRSC and represents UTB to chair the Environmental Focus Group under BNRSC. The centre collaborates actively with the Department of Investigation and Traffic Control, Department of Roads, and the Land Transport Department. The centre regularly collects and conducts analysis on road traffic accident data, and presents its findings and recommendations to the BNRSC and its members. The researchers also diagnoses road sa issues and recommend countermeasures on accident-prone roads or new roads in Brunei Darussalam. Some of the recent presentations included:

  • Recent trends in road traffic accidents and progress towards achieving our national targets
  • A GIS-based System to Identification and Prioritisation of Road Traffic Accident Hotspots
  • Lebuhraya Telisai-Lumut – Safety issues and recommendations for improvement

CfTR has collaborated with Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) through joint supervision of a research student and engagement of researchers from the centre as visiting academics to deliver a module on “Transportation Systems and Modelling” in a MSc by Coursework programme.

The centre has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with private and government organisations (e.g. with Road Safety Unit, Ministry of Communications). CfTR was also involved in collaborative discussions and meetings with the Land Transport Department to strategise and implement the upgrading of our national bus network.
