Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) is seeking an enthusiastic and highly committed individual to join our team as a research assistant for the research project entitled “IMPACT OF TRADITIONAL VALUES ON MANAGEMENT CONTROL SYSTEMS IN BRUNEI DARUSSALAM PUBLIC HEALTHCARE”.

Employment period

Salary 

BND 130 per day  

(maximum of 41 working days spread across the employment period, with the maximum working days of 4 days per month including SPK contribution rate of 10.5% per month) 

 

Qualifications and/or skills requirement: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance or relevant subject of the research topic 
  • Skilled in qualitative research 
  • Background knowledge on management accounting 
  • Good analytical and reporting skills

Vacancy: Research Assistant (2 Positions) 

Universiti Teknologi Brunei is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to join as a part-time Research Assistant for a temporary position in the research project titled “Gamification in Education: Enhancing Students’ Learning Experience in STEM Subjects”. 

Employment Period 

: 

From September 10, 2025, to October 14, 2025.

BND 130 per day (25 working days distributed throughout the employment period) 

 

Qualification and/or skills requirement: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in creative multimedia or any other closely related field. 
  • The primary responsibility of the Research Assistant will be to focus on the design and programming of game-based learning for the proposed research solution. 
  • The appointee should have proficient experience in one of the following fields: (1) 3D modeling, animation, and rendering with Blender, or (2) game development and programming with Unity3D. 

Applicant should possess the following:  

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written English.   
  • A positive attitude and flexibility in working hours.  
  • Mentoring skills, a team player, and able to work independently. 
  • Possess good organizational skills and effective time management.

Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) is seeking for a highly motivated individual to join as Research Assistant (Graduate) for the research project entitled "Competency and Practices in Brunei Nursing Healthcare System toward the Development of an Evidence-based Curriculum Guide for Nursing Professionals/Practitioners". 

 

Principal Investigator (PI) 

Dr. Fadzilawati binti Mohiddin, Dr. Sharina Yunus, Dr. Nena Padilla Valdez 

Employment Period 

6 months 

Salary rate 

BND 130.00 per day (Maximum of 11 working days per month including SPK employment contribution rate of 10.5% per month) 

  

Job descriptions: The Research Assistant is expected to carry out the works pertaining to the project as assigned by the Principal Investigators, which include the following:  

  • Conduct comprehensive literature review on AI literacy frameworks in healthcare education  
  • Map ASEAN landscape for AI literacy initiatives and identify best practices and gaps  
  • Design baseline surveys and focus group guidelines in collaboration with Principal Investigators and ASEAN partners  
  • Prepare ethics approval documents for institutional review committee  
  • Identify and engage stakeholders in Brunei healthcare system • Coordinate initial invitations for pilot focus group sessions  
  • Produce Phase 1 Research Package including literature review report and validated research instruments  
  • Ensure comprehensive handover of materials to subsequent research assistant 

Other Expectations: 

  • Research Assistant should report to the PI of the project.  
  • Research Assistant should follow the agreed work schedule and if required it may be updated with the consent of the PI’s.  
  • Research Assistant is required to work full-time (7 ½ hours per day), following regular Government office hours (Monday – Thursday, Saturday 7.45am – 12.15pm; 1.30 – 4.30pm). 
  • Public holidays will not be used as working days.  
  • Research Assistant is employed on a monthly basis for 6 months.  
  • Research Assistant is required to maintain project documentation and progress reports as required by the PI’s. 

Qualification and/or skills requirement: 

  • At least a Master's degree, recognised by the National Accreditation Council of Brunei Darussalam. 
  • Good work ethic, effective time management, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.  
  • Multi-task and work cooperatively with others.  
  • General knowledge of healthcare systems and AI technologies are added advantage.  
  • Familiar with literature review methodologies, reference management software (EndNote, Mendeley), and survey design tools.  
  • Good communication skills, in both oral and written English.  
  • Good report writing and research documentation skills.  
  • Ability to interpret and synthesize research data from multiple sources.  
  • Experience in ethics approval processes and stakeholder engagement preferred.

  • Oversee deployment of surveys and coordinate focus groups across three ASEAN countries (Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia)  
  • Manage secure storage and organization of all project data in compliance with data protection requirements  
  • Perform statistical analysis for quantitative data using SPSS, or similar software  
  • Conduct thematic analysis for qualitative data from focus groups using NVivo, or similar  
  • Create tables, charts, and infographics for reporting and publication purposes  
  • Support integration of research findings into AI literacy curriculum framework  
  • Assist in organizing webinars and stakeholder forums in ASEAN and EU contexts  
  • Maintain project knowledge repository for long-term accessibility  
  • Support preparation of research outputs, publications, and dissemination materials 

Other Expectations: 

  • Research Assistant should report to the PI of the project.  
  • Research Assistant should follow the agreed work schedule and if required it may be updated with the consent of the PIs.

  • Experience in mixed-methods research and cross-cultural research contexts preferred.  
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.  
  • Willingness to coordinate with international partners and travel within ASEAN region if required.
