UTB champions gender equality by empowering women and youth to lead, innovate, and thrive. Through leadership opportunities, initiatives, and international collaborations, we foster an inclusive community where everyone can reach their full potential.
Gender equality is central to UTB’s mission of delivering world-class, inclusive education. Our policies and culture ensure that all staff, regardless of gender, have equal opportunities to contribute, grow, and succeed.
UTB also supports female employees’ rights to maternity leave in line with Brunei Darussalam’s Employment Laws, providing 15 weeks of leave (2 weeks pre-delivery, 13 weeks post-delivery) to help balance work and family responsibilities. (labour.gov.bn)
By empowering everyone equitably, UTB strengthens its community and drives innovation, leadership, and sustainable impact for all.

Female Graduate Metrics
UTB’s Convocation 2024 ceremony, held on 7 September 2024 at the Plenary Hall, International Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas, featured 670 graduates receiving their degrees—including 11 PhDs, 112 Master’s degrees and 547 Bachelor’s degrees. Of the 670 graduates, 54.6% were female. This emphasises UTB’s strong female participation in higher education and supports the university’s commitment to gender equality and inclusive academic access. The graduates are from academic programmes offered by the Faculty of Engineering, UTB School of Business, School of Computing and Informatics, School of Applied Sciences & Mathematics, School of Design, and Centre for Communication, Teaching and Learning (CCTL).
