Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) actively supports Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger by promoting food security, community well-being and sustainable livelihoods. The university leads academic, research and community initiatives that raise awareness of nutrition, inclusivity and social responsibility, while fostering innovation and collaboration locally and internationally.
As part of this commitment, UTB addresses food waste, which is edible food that is discarded or lost due to spoilage or uneaten portions, causing environmental harm and economic loss. Everyone is encouraged to plan meals carefully, take only what they can eat and repurpose leftovers whenever possible.
To make sustainable disposal easier, six designated food waste bins have been placed across campus. Three are in the cafeteria and three in the SASM building. These bins are strictly for food waste only.
