UTB is dedicated to promoting the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems through education, innovation, and cross-cultural engagement. Upholding the principles of Brunei Darussalam’s National Forest Policy, the university advocates for the responsible care and sustainable management of terrestrial environments linked to its community. Guided by the national goal of maintaining at least 55% of land as permanent forest estate, UTB supports the protection of forests, mountains, and drylands through research-led initiatives and responsible land management.
Programmes such as the University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific (UMAP) Discovery Camp 2024 encourage environmental awareness and collaboration among young leaders, while initiatives like the Solar-Powered Farming Workshop foster sustainable agricultural practices that protect natural resources and promote eco-friendly innovation. Through these efforts, UTB continues to contribute to the preservation and responsible management of life on land.
