The ERASMUS+ Brunei Info Day, which was co-organised by the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education and Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), was held in a hybrid format at UTB Lecture Theatre 2.

The ERASMUS+ programme, an initiative of the European Union, promotes learning mobility, cooperation, quality, inclusion, equity, excellence, creativity, and innovation in education and training. It also supports non-formal and informal learning mobility, active youth participation and fosters cooperation, quality, inclusion, creativity, and innovation at the organisational and policy levels in the field of youth.

The Erasmus+ talk aimed to enlighten, motivate, advocate, and educate individuals about the myriad opportunities and advantages of the Erasmus+ programme for international mobility and cultural exchange.

The event commenced with welcoming remarks by the Guest of Honour, Yang Mulia Hajah Anis Faudzulani binti Haji Dzulkifle, Director of Higher Education, Ministry of Education Brunei Darussalam.

Ms. Destriani Nugroho, Programme Manager at the European Union’s delegation to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam, presented an overview of the ERASMUS+ Program, highlighting its core objectives and impact in Brunei.

Yang Mulia Professor Dr. Basilios Tsikouras, Director of Research at the Office of the Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Research) of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), provided insights into International Credit Mobility (ICM). This was followed by a firsthand account of the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility programme by Adlina Misli, a BSc Geology student at UTB and the University of Patras (Greece), who is also an Erasmus Awardee 2023.

Yang Mulia Dr. Jenny Lind Elmaco, Key Expert/Academic Expert at the Centralised Support for ENFP, European Commission, explained the procedures for applying for funding, calls for proposals, and partner searches. Yang Mulia Marc Chia-Ching Cheng, Taiwan’s Erasmus+ National Focal Point (ENFP), presented on the Jean Monnet Scholarship programme.

The event concluded with insights from Yang Mulia Dr. Ashiqur Rahman, Regional Project Manager - Asia at the Centralised Support to the Network of ENFP, European Commission, on Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJM) and Erasmus Mundus Design Measures (EMDM), as well as tips and tricks for the Road to EMJM Scholarships.
