Research Interest

His research interests mainly focus on the structural modification of carbohydrates, proteins and lipids via enzymatic and chemical methods in order to alter and improve their physicochemical and nutritional properties.

  • BSc in Food Technology, Universiti Sains Malaysia

Career or Professional Bodies/Awards

Dr Phuah has received several national and international awards including the best poster presenter in ASEAN Emerging Researchers Conference in 2018 and two bronze medals in both 19th International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition (ITEX) and Malaysian Technology Expo Exhibition (MTE), respectively in 2008. Besides, he and his team had won the 1st runner up in the “Developing Solutions for Developing Countries Competition” organised by the Institute of Food Technologist (IFT) in 2014. He is also the co-opted members for Malaysian Institute of Food Technology (MIFT).
