UTB held a meeting visit with Yang Mulia Mr Julian Tan, Business Development Executive, IBM Quantum, IBM Singapore, to explore potential collaborations in quantum technologies and related academic and research programmes.
He was welcomed by Yang Mulia Dr Mohamad Saiful bin Hj Omar, Assistant Vice-Chancellor (External and Industry Relations), along with senior UTB officials including Yang Mulia Professor Dr Mohamed Hasnain Isa, Yang Mulia Dr Au Thein Wan, Yang Mulia Dr Ismawi Hj Md Yusof, Yang Mulia Dr Lim Tiong Hoo, Yang Mulia Dr Ravi Kumar Patchmuthu, and Yang Mulia Pg Dr Rafidah Pg Hj Petra.
The session discussed strategic opportunities in quantum computing, quantum-safe technologies, and capacity-building initiatives. Mr Tan also delivered a presentation on IBM Quantum Technology and Quantum Safe, highlighting ongoing projects and potential cooperation areas, including the IBM–NUS Research and Innovation Centre and Quantum Network, the ASEAN Quantum School, the ASEAN Quantum AI Train-the-Trainer Programme, and the ASEAN Quantum Safe and National Policy Programme.
