> UTB WON THE PROVEG FOOD INNOVATION CHALLENGE FINALIST AWARD

Four students of Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) from the School of Applied Sciences and Mathematics (SASM) won the finalist prize award of ProVeg Food Innovation Challenge Asia-Pacific (APAC) 2022. The event was organised by ProVeg International and was held virtually through Zoom.

The students were the first to represent Brunei Darussalam, which was one of the top 11 percent of finalists for the ProVeg Food Innovation Challenge Asia from the APAC region. The team’s innovation proposal will soon be adopted by the Oatly Company, based in the APAC region.

The students were led by Awang Muhammad ‘Atiq bin Juani @ Najrien bin Juani, Master of Science in Food Science and Technology, SASM. Other members were Dayang Siti Madihah binti Haji Mohd Don, PhD in Food Science and Technology, SASM; Dayang Hasna Basirah binti Mazalan, Master of Science in Food Science and Technology, SASM; and Dayang Jhoorhanah binti Abdul Halim, Master of Food Science and Technology, SASM. The students were mentored by Dr Aida Maryam binti Haji Basri, Lecturer of Food Science and Technology; Jack Shi, Oatly NPD Director and Queenie Chong, Memori.io.
