> UTB Students Discover Istanbul's Charm on Bosphorus Cultural Excursion

23 June 2025 - As part of their ongoing cultural exposure under the ExperiencePLUS programme, UTB students enjoyed an enriching day trip exploring the heart of Istanbul, guided by their hocam on 13 June 2025.

The journey began with a cheerful ride from Halkalı to Üsküdar, where students shared songs and laughter with their hocam, setting a warm and lively tone for the day. Upon arrival, the group boarded a ferry for a scenic tour along the Bosphorus Strait, with hocam kindly covering the ticket costs.

The cruise offered breathtaking views of Istanbul’s historical landmarks including grand palaces, ancient walls, remnants of old fortresses, and the city’s iconic bridges giving students a deeper appreciation of Türkiye’s rich heritage.

After the tour, the group settled down to enjoy freshly made fish sandwiches at a local restaurant. They later visited a nearby mosque known as the New Mosque (Yeni Camii) to perform Friday prayers a peaceful and reflective moment for many.

The group returned to Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University in good spirits, carrying with them not only fond memories but also a deeper cultural understanding that adds meaning to their time abroad.

This cultural visit is one of many ways UTB encourages its students to embrace learning beyond the classroom and engage meaningfully with the world around them.
