Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) student Dayang Hajah Wafiqah binti Haji Daim emerged as the champion Qariah (Al-Quran reader) at the Musabaqah Tilawah Al-Quran Institusi Pengajian Tinggi (IPT) event, held in conjunction with the 40th National Day celebrations of Brunei Darussalam. This prestigious competition took place at Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan (KUPU SB). Dayang Hajah Wafiqah, an MSc student of Food Science and Technology, secured the coveted first place in the female category. Meanwhile, Muhammad Naqib Ahwazie bin Mohammad Ali Khairi, a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering student from the Faculty of Engineering, clinched fourth place in the male category.
The esteemed awards were presented by the Guest of Honor, Yang Mulia Dr. Haji Abang Hadzmin bin Haji Abang Taha, Acting Deputy Raes of KUPU SB. The event witnessed participation from eight talented students representing prominent institutions such as Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), UTB, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), and KUPU SB.
