> UTB SASM SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDES FIVE-DAY FOOD SAFETY TRAINING

The School of Applied Sciences and Mathematics (SASM), Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), completed a five-day food safety training for Brunei Darussalam Food Authority (BDFA) today. The programme ended with certificate presentations to 21 BDFA participants by the Course Leader and Dean of School of Applied Sciences and Mathematics, Dr Namasivayam Navaranjan. Also present at the event was the Director of TriCED, Dr Roslynna Rosli.

The programme included sessions from SASM experts that covered various essential topics and activities including food safety management and legislation within the food industry, employing effective sampling techniques, assessing the quality of imported foods, and utilising statistical analysis for informed decision-making.

The programme also involved visits to Muara Port Company to observe the Royal Customs and Excise Department declaration procedure and cold storage facilities, including Wei Tat Enterprise in Jerudong and Ben Foods Sendirian Berhad in Lugu Industrial Park.

This training aimed to familiarise BDFA participants with essential practices and regulatory guidelines focused on inspecting and sampling raw imported meats. These practices adhere to ISO 22000 standards and ensure that products meet the highest food safety and quality levels throughout the food supply chain.
