20 May 2023 – Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) celebrates its 15th anniversary as a university with a thanksgiving prayer. The celebration was organised together with the launching of the UTB Library Management System and Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) and UTB Eid Al-FItr 2023 festivities. The event took place at the UTB Multipurpose Hall, Phase 3.
Present as the Guest of Honour was Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB.
The event commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Kesyukuran led by Yang Mulia Ustaz Awang Mohd Fazalley bin Haji Hidup, Head of the Religious Unit. Subsequently, Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB presented her welcoming address and unveiled UTB's 15th Anniversary logo.
The Guest of Honour then proceeded to inaugurate the new UTB Library Management system and OPAC, marking a key milestone in the development of the university's library services. The implementation of the KOHA library management system brings about a remarkable enhancement in the overall operations of the UTB Library. This was followed by a multimedia presentation.
“We are excited to announce the launch of this new system, showcasing our unwavering commitment to offering efficient solutions for our students and faculty members to seamlessly explore and access a wide range of library resources. We express our profound gratitude to the university management, library staff, and ICTC staff for their invaluable support throughout the development and implementation of the system." said Yang Mulia Awang Muhammad Hafizuddin bin Abu Hasrah, Senior Librarian, UTB.
Following that, the Guest of Honour presented prizes to the winners of the Raya Photo Competition organised by UTB Student Representative Council 2022/2023. The competition was won by Yang Mulia Muhammad ‘Atiq bin Juani@Najrien.
The event also featured competitions for the Best Hari Raya attire, adding the element of excitement. The staff categories were won by Yang Mulia Mr Lim Chui Hua, Registrar and Secretary and Yang Mulia Ms Elizah, Deputy Registrar (Academic). Meanwhile, under the student categories, Yang Mulia Mohammad Izzwadi Bin Eddy Irwan, and Yang Mulia Nur Absarina Binti Mohammad Yusran won most votes.
The event concluded with a musical performance presented by the UTB Music Club.
