Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) hosted the 11th Asia Technological University Network (ATU-Net) Board Meeting 2023, which took place at the Rizqun International Hotel Brunei in Gadong. The meeting is part of UTB Science, Technology and Engineering Connect (UTB-STE Connect) 2023 as a featured event.

The ATU-Net Board Meeting is an annual gathering of the Board of Directors of the ATU-Net. This network consists of Technological universities and institutions across Asia that work together to promote collaboration, innovation, and academic excellence in the field of technology education and research.

The meeting commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, followed by a welcoming remark delivered by Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, the Vice-Chancellor of UTB. This was followed by an opening remark by Yang Mulia Professor Datuk Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Fauzi bin Ismail, the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Vice-Chancellor & the Chair of ATU-Net.

The meeting included an overview of the University Presidents and Official Representatives, the approval of Minutes of Meeting (MoM), and addressing matters arising. The progress and achievements of 2023 were also reported and discussed, as well as plans and future strategies for the upcoming year to further advance technological education and research within the network.

The highlight of the meeting was the ATU-Net Agreement signing ceremony, symbolising the commitment and dedication of the member institutions to collaboration and mutual support in advancing technological education and research.

The meeting concluded with closing remarks from the Chair of ATU-Net, marking the successful completion of the 11th ATU-Net Board Meeting 2023. The successful conclusion of the 11th ATU-Net Board Meeting 2023 marked an important milestone in the journey of ATU-Net and set the stage for future endeavors and collaborations.

UTB has been an active member of the ATU-Net and consistently demonstrated its commitment to excellence and its dedication to fostering meaningful collaborations in the field of technological education and research internationally. The event showcased the university's position as a prominent institution in the region and its unwavering dedication to shaping the future of technological education.

Prior to the commencement of the meeting, a signing ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UTB and some of the esteemed members institutions of ATU-Net, including Universitas Sebelas Maret, Indonesia; Universiti Perlis Malaysia, Malaysia; Samar State University, Philippines; Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, Malaysia; Mindanao State University – Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography, Philippines; and Eastern Visayas State University, Philippines, was held. These MoU formalised other specialised collaborative efforts and commitment to mutual growth and development among these prestigious academic institutions.
