Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) hosted a technical talk entitled “Leveraging the Campus as a Living Lab (CaLL@SIT): Applied Learning and Research in Real-world Operational Environments” at Lecture Theatre 4 (LT4), UTB. The event was attended by UTB students, academic staff, researchers, and invited industry participants.
The session was delivered by Professor Steven Wong, Director of the Centre of Digital Enablement (CoDE) at the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), who also serves as the external moderator for the CNS Programme Area.
Professor Wong shared insights on utilising university campuses as "living laboratories" to support innovation through real-world operational environments. His presentation highlighted how higher education institutions can integrate digital technologies, smart systems, and industry partnerships to create powerful experiential learning opportunities while solving practical, everyday campus challenges.
The talk provided participants with critical perspectives on digital enablement, cybersecurity leadership, and the expanding role of universities in fostering innovation-driven learning environments. It further sparked meaningful discussions on strengthening academia-industry collaboration to advance future-ready education initiatives and digital transformation.
In addition to his role at SIT, Professor Wong is widely recognized as a leader in the cybersecurity sector. He currently holds several prominent professional roles, including President of the Association of Information Security Professionals (AiSP) and Deputy Chairman of the Cybersecurity Coordinating Committee under the Singapore Standards Council.
