The Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) Excellence Award Ceremony 2023 was held today in conjunction with UTB Convocation Ceremony 2023. The UTB Excellence Award Ceremony celebrates the Staff Excellence Award (SEA); the Vice-Chancellor’s Award; the University Student Excellence Award; the Outstanding Research Paper Award; the Dean’s List Award; the Co-Curricular Activities or Student Achievement Passport (SAP) Award; and the People’s Choice Award for UTB Project Showcase 2023. The ceremony took place at the Plenary Hall, International Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas.
Present as the Guest of Honor at the event was Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Dr. Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, the Minister of Education, Chairperson of UTB Council members.
Also present were His Excellency Mr. Xiao Jianguo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China; Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB; and other members of the UTB Council.
The event began with the recitation of the Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, followed by a welcoming remark by the UTB Vice-Chancellor.
At the event, the Guest of Honour presented awards to the recipients of the Staff Excellence Awards (SEA) in Teaching, Research, Administrative Excellence Award for Academic Staff and Non-Academic Staff; and Special Mention Award.
A total of seventeen academics and staff were awarded for their excellence service to the University this year. The recipients were each awarded with a plaque, certificate of recognition and cash prize of BND$1,000.00. While for recipients for Special Mention received a certificate.

The Staff Excellence Award was introduced in 2015, celebrated annually to reward the outstanding and meritorious contribution of both academic and non-academic staff to the success of the University in achieving its strategic goals.
The ceremony then continued with the Guest of Honour presenting the Graduate Excellence Awards in various categories to deserving graduates who have successfully completed their studies and excelled in their respective academic programmes.

About 52 recipients from various faculty and schools who have demonstrated commendable academic achievement in their studies received the Dean’s List Awards.
Whereas eight recipients were also awarded for Student Co-curricular Activities which includeOutstanding Life Skill Achiever, Top Religious Award (Male), Top Religious Award (Female),Sports Man of UTB, Sports Woman of UTB, Community Service, and Top Culture.
Meanwhile, eight recipients were awarded the People’s Choice Award for the UTB Project Showcase 2023.
