The Student Representative Council of Universiti Teknologi Brunei (MPPUTB) [Translate: Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar UTB] and the Student Affairs Office co-hosted the Presidential Election for the 2023/2024 session. The event took place at the Lecture Theater 2 of the
university.
Present as the Guest of Honour was UTB Vice-Chancellor of UTB, Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr. Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman. Also in attendance were UTB principal officer, staff, and students.
The election commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, followed by presentations from the shortlisted candidates namely: Yang Mulia Awang Ahmad Mohsin bin Haji Abdul Manan; Yang Mulia Awangku Md Rafiuddin bin Pg Saharuddin; Yang Mulia Awangku Muhammad Syukhairi bin Pengiran Haji Suhaini, and Yang Mulia Dayang Moh Yee Lin.
Each candidate had seven minutes to present on a title ‘As a student leader, what should matter most? The people or the result’ followed by five minutes question-and-answer session each.
The audience both in the Lecture Theater 2 and online via Live Instagram voted using a QR code shared at the event.
With 46.8% of the total vote, Awangku Md Rafiuddin bin Pg Saharuddin was announced the President-elect for UTB Student Representative Council 2023/2024.
