> UTB AND DARE INK AGREEMENT ON FOODIE

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between The Centre for Research on Agri-Food Science and Technology (CrAFT) of Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) and Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) was signed to launch the Food Development and Innovation for Enterprises (FOODIE) at the Main Auditorium, level 1 of the Design and Technology (D&T) Building in Anggerek Desa Technology Park.

Present as the Guest of Honour at the event was Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB.

The event commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by the welcoming address by the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of DARe, Yang Mulia Daniel Leong. It was then followed by a special remark by the Director of UTB CrAFT, Yang Mulia Dr Syazana Abdullah Lim.

The event proceeded with the presentation of FOODIE and signing ceremony.

Signing on behalf of UTB was Yang Mulia Lim Chui Hua, Registrar and Secretary of UTB and representing DARe was Yang Mulia Daniel Leong as Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of DARe.

The FOODIE initiative is intended to assist the local food and beverage enterprise enhance their products by employing UTB’s Centre for Research and Technology (CrAFT) – Brunei first and only agricultural, food science, and nutrition research centre. This will be done by addressing issues requiring Research and Development (R&D) such as shelf-life extension, alternative packaging materials, use of natural preservatives, and assessment of nutritional benefits in food and beverage.
