The Super Museum AI Summit, a collaborative event hosted by Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) together with the United States Embassy in Brunei Darussalam, George Mason University (GMU), and Company | E. The Summit featured keynote addresses, interactive learning session, and hands-on demonstrations by experts from the United States and Brunei, held across the lecture theatres at UTB.
The opening ceremony was held at the Lecture Theatre 2 of the university. Present as the Guest of Honour was Yang Mulia Haji Hairul Md Daud bin Haji Abdul Karim, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Infocommunications), representing Yang Berhormat Pg Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pg Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC).
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat. This was followed by a remark by Her Excellency Madam Caryn R. McClelland, the Ambassador of United States Embassy in Brunei Darussalam. Subsequent remarks were delivered by Yang Mulia Dr Mohamad Saiful bin Haji Omar, Assistant Vice-Chancellor (External and Industry Relations), UTB, and Yang Mulia Mr Paul Emerson, Executive and Co-Artistic Director of Company | E.
The event proceeded with keynote sessions. The first keynote session entitled AI for Everyone: Possibilities and Pathways, was delivered by Yang Mulia Associate Professor Dr Lim Tiong Hoo, Director of Centre for Green Technology and Sustainability Research (GreenTeXS). The second keynote, Breaking Tech Barries to Innovation, was delivered by Yang Mulia Tim Cotten, the Chief Executive Officer of Scrypyed Inc.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on educational collaboration and research partnerships was then formalise through the signing ceremony between UTB and the George Mason University. Signing on behalf of UTB was the Vice-Chancellor of UTB, Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah, Vice-Chancellor of UTB and representing the George Mason University was Yang Mulia Professor Sang Nam, Professor and Director, Computer Game Design Programme, Co-Director, Virginia Serious Game Institute. The signing was witnessed by both Her Excellency Madam Caryn R. McClelland and Yang Mulia Haji Hairul Md Daud bin Haji Abdul Karim.
The opening ceremony concluded with presentation of token of appreciation from Professor Sang Nam to the Guest of Honour.
The event continued throughout the day with keynote sessions. The first one was on Understanding Artificial Intelligence, lecture on Beyond Knowing: Rethinking Intelligence in the Age of AI by Yang Mulia Professor Sang Nam. Followed by a demonstration on Demystifying AI: A Hands-On introduction to the Minds Behind the Machines by Yang Mulia Professor James Casey.
Session two on AI in Everyday Life comprised three concurrent tracks. Track A: AI in Education by Professor James Casey, exploring how AI is used in classrooms and personalized learning platforms. Track B: AI in Business and Startups by Ms. Tara Ashley Compton, sharing real-world examples of AI in operations, customer service, and analytics; and Track C: Building Decentralized AI Agents in the Era of Web4 by Tim Cotton, covering generative AI for storytelling, design, music, and digital arts.
The third session featured a Fireside Chat between Professor Sang Nam and Tim Cotten on Your Future with AI: Building a Career Beyond the Code, discussing AI’s impact, risks, and opportunities from multi-sector perspectives, including education, business, government, and youth. The session explored non-technical roles, essential skills, and accessible learning pathways in the AI era.
This was followed by an Expert Panel on the Future of AI in Southeast Asia, moderated by Professor James Casey, featuring Tim Cotten, representatives from UTB, and the U.S. Embassy.
A highlight of student projects from UTB’s Game Development course, were also showcased at the UTB Library. The exhibition included a VR experience of SuperMuseum America, reimagining the museum visit.
Participants explored a digital museum space with interactive portals transporting them to striking environments such as the surface of Mars, the vast savannah, and the White House, including the Oval Office. Designed to blend education, storytelling, and exploration, SuperMuseum invited users to engage with culture, history, and science in a completely new, interactive way.
