> THE EMBASSY OF LAO PEOPLE’S DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC PRESENTS BOOK DONATION TO UTB

In a gesture of cultural enrichment and academic collaboration, the Embassy of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to Brunei Darussalam generously donated a collection of books to Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB). The official handover ceremony occured this afternoon at the UTB library, marking a significant milestone in cultural exchange and bilateral relations between the two nations.

The event commenced with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by a welcoming speech by Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr. Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB. She expressed UTB’s deep commitment to education and cultural understanding. She highlighted the pivotal role of such initiatives in fostering stronger ties between Brunei Darussalam and the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Followed by remarks by Her Excellency Sengdavanh Vongsay, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lao PDR to Brunei Darussalam. Which she also highlighted the importance of education and people-to-people exchange in bilateral relations between the two nations.

The Lao PDR Book Corner is one of the activities organised in commemoration of the 30th Anniversary of the establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Lao PDR and Brunei Darussalam (1993 - 2023).

Also, in attendance were the invited Foreign Dignitaries, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yang Mulia Hajah Mardiana binti Haji Omar, UTB Principal Officers, and representatives from both nations.

The event proceeded with the official launch of the ‘Lao PDR Corner’ at the UTB library, followed by the handover of about 55 books covering a diverse subject and some tourism forms of media by Her Excellency Sengdavanh Vongsay. This dedicated space aims to provide students and researchers with a comprehensive resource for exploring Lao culture and heritage.

The event marked the official inauguration of the Lao PDR Corner, symbolising a lasting commitment to fostering cultural exchange and academic collaboration between the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and Brunei Darussalam.
