The Executive Seminar themed ‘Innovation for Sustainable Development Goals’ was held in conjunction with the Crown Prince CIPTA Award 2023 as well as Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition (MYCE) 2023 in the Lecture Theatre 2, Library Complex, Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) and virtually via the Zoom platform.
Present as the Guest of Honour at the seminar was Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, UTB Vice-Chancellor.
The seminar commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, followed by a welcoming remark by the Head of CIPTA Seminar Organising Committee, Yang Mulia Dr Wida Susanty binti Haji Suhaili. A seminar video was then launched by the Guest of Honour.
The event proceeded with a forum session moderated by Dr Lim Pang Jen, Co-Chair of CIPTA Technical Committee at UTB. The speakers of the forum include the judges of CIPTA 2023, Yang Mulia Ir. Chin Lee Tuck, Managing Director, Jurutera OMC; Yang Mulia Ak Md Rafiuddin bin Pg Saharuddin, President, Student Representative Council of UTB;Yang Mulia Prof. Ts. Dr. Wan Zuha Wan Hassan, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia; Yang Mulia Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Sivarao Subramonian, Faculty of Manufacturing Engineering, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka; and Yang Mulia Pg. Dr. Rafidah Pg. Haji Petra, Co-Chair of CIPTA Technical Committee.
The discussion focused on the overall CIPTA 2023 competition, drawing from the past submissions and requirements. The panels also discussed the project that piqued their interest as well as the commercialisation of the products. During the discussion, thoughts were also shared on how to improve both the events and the competitions for the next creation.
The event concluded with a question-and-answer session.
Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition (MYCE) 2023 is organised by the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism through the Tourism Development Department in collaboration with local and international government agencies, statutory bodies, higher educational institutions, stakeholders and private agencies. The Brunei MYCE 2023 is also fully supported by several official media partners, namely Radio Television Brunei (RTB), the Information Department (Pelita Brunei) and Brunei Press Sdn Bhd.
