In the Holy Month of Ramadhan, Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), through the Student Affairs Office and Student Representative Council (MPPUTB) continued organising the annual charity drive for the fifth time this year called ‘Ramadhan Drive 5.0’. 

This initiative, which began in 2018, is part of the university's ongoing efforts to reach out to the community and lend a hand in easing the burden of those in need. 

The Ramadhan Drive 5.0 received BND$9,322.32 and essential food supplies from university staff and students. The donation period lasted for two weeks which began on 4 April 2022 until 17 April 2022. 

Several charity drives were launched as part of the Ramadhan Drive 5.0, which includes the Donation for Underprivileged Families, Program Wakaf, Program Sungkai and Donation for Orphans. 

Under the Donation for Underprivileged Families, the donations were delivered to 12 underprivileged families particularly destitute and family members with health issues residing around the country. The donation was being distributed starting 26 until 29 April 2022. Among the items donated were staple food supply, daily necessities, cleaning supplies, toiletries and others. 

The waqf donations under Program Wakaf were distributed to selected Suraus of Secondary and Religious Schools in the Brunei-Muara District as part of the Program Wakaf in the hope that the items would be useful to these mosques. Some of the necessities donated include racks, portable P.A systems, cleaning supplies, and others. 

Under the Program Sungkai consist of three programmes; Iftar Meals for 3 Mosques in Tutong District, Sungkai se-UTB and Sungkai with Special Needs or Single Mothers and Orphans. The donation includes providing Iftar Meals and Hari Raya gifts. 

Whereas the Donations for the Orphans were distributed during the Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony in conjunction with Ramadhan 1443H through a drive-through donation to 43 orphanages.

Yang Mulia Dr Haji Rajul Adli bin Haji Asli, Dean of Student Affairs, led the delegation, which included university staff and students.
