Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) organised a prize giving ceremony for the Robotic and Coding Conquest Competition 2023 this afternoon in conjunction with Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition (MYCE) 2023. The ceremony took place at the Lecture Theater 2 of the university. 

The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, followed by a welcoming speech by Yang Mulia Dr Ahmad Azlan bin Ab Aziz and a video presentation.

Yang Mulia Dr Saiful bin Haji Omar, Acting Vice-Chancellor of UTB was present as the Guest of Honour. The event then proceeded with the presentation of certificate of appreciation to sponsors which include Rhymin and Partners Coaching and Consultancy, and Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD); as well as the technical partners including Seria Energy Lab and Tech Source Systems, and technical Judges.  The facilitators who played a crucial role in the event were also recognised with certificates.

This was then followed by the presentation of prizes by the Guest of Honour to the winners of Machine Learning Hackathon, IOT Smart Hackaton, and the VEX EDR Robotic Competition.

The first place in the Machine Learning Hackathon was awarded to Mohammad Faiz bin Hj Sufrikhan, followed by Mohammed Shameer in the second place and Mohd Muqri Izuddin bin Hj Md Jamil in the third place.

For the IOT Smart Hackathon, Jerry Yong Ann Qiao secured the first place, while Muhammad Fauzan Ho bin Muhammad Johari Ho placed second and Nur Farzana Saiful Azmi and Abdul Wazif bin Ja’afaruddin took third and forth place respectively.

As for the Robotic Competition, the first-place winner was Durian team while the second, third, and fourth places were secured by StarScream, DynoVEX, and Green Shark respectively.

The ceremony concluded with a tour of the Robotic competition arena located at the Civil Engineering building, phase 3 of the university. This tour showcased the remarkable achievements of the participants.

The Robotic Coding Conquest 2023 brought together a remarkable series of competitions, featuring three distinct categories that highlight 4IR technologies.

In the tertiary education categories, was the Machine Learning and IOT Smart Home Hackathon.   This category provided participants with a platform to demonstrate their problem-solving skills and innovative ideas.  

In the Secondary Education, the VEX EDR Robotic Competition took place.  In this electrifying category, it allows the next generation of engineers showcase their engineering ability, programming skills and teamwork in a captivating challenge of robots battling it out to score the highest points.  The competition featured participants from prestigious institutions such as Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Tahfiz, Awang Semaun Secondary School, and Sekolah Ugama Arab Menengah Perempuan Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha. 

The collaboration between UTB, these schools, and industry partners reflects a commitment to nurturing talent and providing opportunities for students from diverse educational backgrounds. 

The main objective of this event was to provide students and enthusiasts with quality technical education and hands-on learning experiences. With the theme "Merakyatkan Teknologi" or "Leveraging Technology for All," the programme aimed to democratize access to technology and empower individuals at all educational levels. 

Beyond knowledge transfer, this event also aimed to cultivate future leaders in their respective fields. By equipping students with necessary skills, it prepares them to contribute to society and generate income through their expertise, creating a sustainable path for personal growth and societal progress.
