The Student Representative Council of Universiti Teknologi Brunei (MPPUTB) [Translate: Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar UTB] and the Student Affairs Office co-hosted the Presidential Election for the 2024/2025 session. The event took place at the Multi-Purpose Hall, UTB.
Present as the Guest of Honour was UTB’s Vice-Chancellor, Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman. UTB Principal Officers, members of the MPPUTB, staff, and students of UTB were in attendance.
The election commenced with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, followed by the presentations from the four nominated candidates. The four nominated candidates were Awg Muhamad Zahirul Aniq bin Supri, Dyg Aliyah binti Hj Kamarul Amir Ariffin, Dayangku nurul Diyaanah Izzati binti Pg Suhaini and Awg Muhammad Firas Al-Wa’ie bin Wadi.
Each nominated candidate was given seven minutes to present their prepared speech with the title ‘As The Bridge That Facilitates The Communication Between Students And Staff, How Would You Ensure That Both Parties Receive Equitable Benefits?’ followed by a five-minute question-and-answer session each.
The audience at the Multi-purpose Hall and online through Live Instagram cast their votes via QR code shared at the event. With 52.08% of votes, Dayang Aliyah binti Hj Kamarul Amir Ariffin was announced as the President-elect for the UTB Student Representative Council 2024/2025 session.
