The Student Representative Council of Universiti Teknologi Brunei (MPPUTB) [Translate: Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar UTB], and the Student Affairs Office co-hosted the Presidential Election for the 2022/2023 session. The event took place at the Multi-Purpose Hall, UTB.
Present as the Guest of Honour was UTB Vice-Chancellor, Yang Mulia Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman. Also in attendance were UTB Principal Officers, members of the MPPUTB, staff and students of UTB.
The election commenced with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, followed by the presentations from the three nominated candidates. The three nominated candidates were Mohammad Umair Wafri @Mohammad Iliya bin Haji Noor Ahsffian, Muhammad Khairi bin Haji Jefri and Dayang Ummi Salmah Bte Hj Mohd Firdaus.
Each nominated candidate was given seven minutes to present their prepared speech with a title ‘The impact of Covid-19 on students’ followed by five minutes question-and-answer session each.
The audience both at the Multi-purpose Hall and online thru Live Instagram cast their votes via QR code shared at the event. With 89% of votes, Dayang Ummi Salmah Binti Haji Mohd Firdaus was announced the President-elect for UTB Student Representative Council 2022/2023 session.
To conclude her victory speech, the new president-elect of the UTB Student Representative Council 2022/2023 session said, "In shaa Allah I will do my very best to lead, learn, and continue to work together with everyone and I do hope that this year will be a very good year for us all at the university!"
