The World Engineering, Science and Technology Congress (ESTCON 2022) organised by Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) and co-organised by Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Multimedia University (MMU), and FPT University, Vietnam was held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia for two consecutive days from 1 to 2 December 2022.

The Congress addresses the latest trends and issues affecting the world in areas including innovation, engineering, technology, and humanities. In this seventh edition of the congress, it was further enhanced to explore Future Energy and Smart Communities.

The ESTCON 2022 had eight conferences which focused on different issues pertaining to its respective theme and tracks. It was inaugurated on the first day, and UTB was represented by Professor Dr Mohamed Hasnain Isa, Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Research), who was also one of the Congress paper presenters and awarded the Best Presenter Award for the first International Conference on Emerging Smart Cities (ICESC).

Other paper presenters from UTB  include Dr Syazana Abdullah Lim, Director of Centre of Research on Agri-Food Science and Technology (CrAFT); Dr Aida Maryam binti Haji Basri, Lecturer of School of Applied Sciences and Mathematics (SASM); Dr Hajah Roslynna binti Haji Rosli, Assistant Professor of Faculty of Engineering; Dk Norhafizah binti Pg Hj Muhammad, Lecturer of Faculty of Engineering; Dr Ravi Kumar Patchmuthu, Assistant Professor of School of Computing and Informatics (SCI); Dr Arif Bramantoro, Senior Assistant Professor SCI; Dr Ibrahim Venkat @ Krishnamurthy Venkatasubramaniam, Associate Professor of SCI.

UTB also took the opportunity to promote the university and showcase the Crown Prince CIPTA Award 2023 at the congress.
