Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) officially concluded the 2025 China-Brunei Overseas Innovation Project Programme (OIPP) with a closing ceremony held at the university’s Concourse Hall. The event marked the successful end of a two-week international academic collaboration between UTB and Tianjin University (TJU), China.
Held from 25 July to 7 August 2025, the programme brought together 12 undergraduate students from TJU’s School of Microelectronics and 2 accompanying staff. The programme was jointly hosted by the UTB Global Office and the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Programme Area.
The OIPP is designed to offer undergraduate students international opportunities. Its objectives are to enrich students’ academic experiences, enhance their creative and practical skills, nurture global perspectives and cross-cultural understanding, and strengthen institutional partnerships particularly through student exchange initiatives with Tianjin University.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, followed by a welcoming remark from Associate Professor Dr Lim Tiong Hoo, UTB OIPP Leader. His Excellency Mr Xiao Jianguo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam, also delivered his remarks. Also in attendance for this event was Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice- Chancellor of UTB.
A participant representative then shared insights and reflections on the programme, highlighting the value of cross-border collaboration and cultural exchange. This was followed by a video presentation capturing key moments and achievements from the two-week programme.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates of excellence to all participants and the showcase of smart robots made by the participants during the two weeks of the programme.
