30 June 2025 –The School of Computing and Informatics, UniversitiTeknologi Brunei (UTB) proudly hosted the ASEAN Cyber Shield (ACS) Appreciation Night 2025 at Tarindak D’Polo Restaurant, Jerudong, to honour achievements and completion of the first cohort of students under the ASEAN Cyber Shield MSc Cyber Security Scholarship.

Gracing the occasion was Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr. Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, UTB’s Vice-Chancellor, as guest of honour. Also in attendance were His Excellency Sun Nahmkook, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea; Her Excellency Madam Marian Jocelyn R. Tirol-Ignacio, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Philippines; Ms Park Sunyoung, Deputy Chief of Mission Counsellor, Embassy of the Republic of Korea; and Yang Mulia Tengku Muhammad Faiz Tenku Sulaiman, First Secretary (Political).

The evening commenced with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah and DoaSelamat by Yang Mulia Ustaz Fazalley bin Haji Hidup followed by a welcoming speech from yang Mulia Dr. Haji Sharul Tazrajiman bin haji Tajuddin, Dean of the School of Computing and Informatics, and a heartfelt address by a student representative, Yang Mulia Abdul Khaliq bin Saifullizan.

A video presentation showcased the journey and impact of the ACS initiative, culminating in the presentation of certificates and mementos to the completing students. The evening concluded with a celebratory dinner.

The ASEAN Cyber Shield initiative at UTB represents a strategic commitment to advancing cybersecurity expertise across the region, funded by the ASEAN-Korea Cooperation Fund from the Government of the Republic of Korea — the programme equips students with critical skills to address evolving digital security challenges. The initiative aligns with UTB’s vision as a “Global University of the Future,” driving innovation, research excellence, and industry engagement in cybersecurity and digital transformation.

This project is funded with ASEAN-Korea Cooperation Fund from the Government of the Republic of Korea, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing cybersecurity educaton and collaboration across the region.
