> CCTL JOINS THE 7TH ICLE 2021

The Centre for Communication, Teaching & Learning (CCTL) lecturers were invited to speak at the seventh International Conference on Language and Education (7th ICLE) 2021, Association of Language Teachers in Southeast Asia (ALTSA).

The 7th ICLE, held from 15 until 17 December 2021, was jointly organised by the Association of Language Teachers in Southeast Asia (ALTSA), Faculty of Tarbiyah Science and Teachers’ Training UINSU, and ALTSA Publish.

The three-day conference featured a distinguished keynote speaker and twelve invited speakers from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Brunei, and the Philippines. Approximately 55 papers from various countries, including Malaysia, China, Indonesia, Thailand, Pakistan, and Brunei, were presented.

Two lecturers from CCTL, Dr. Nena P. Valdez, Senior Assistant Professor, and Dr. Mas Ayu Mumin, Assistant Professor, were invited as the speakers for the event.

During the session, Dr. Nena delivered a topic on 'Multi-Infoliteracy Processing Agencies among STEM Learners in Higher Institutions: Responsive Exigencies of the New Era of Industrial Revolution'. The paper explores the information processing agencies that conditioned learners to exercise multi-dimensional criticality in dealing with data and information from networked media and increasingly sophisticated technology.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mas Ayu presented 'Finding Heutagogy: Virtual learning impact on academic identity and Community of Practice awareness in Bruneian undergraduates' which focused on a study on thirty-four first year fresh undergraduate students. Its objective was to uncover their learning and academic preparedness of facing university-level online learning for the first time as higher education students.

With the theme Evaluating Language Teaching and Education in Turbulent Times, the virtual conference aimed to gather and exchange knowledge and establish networking across various integrative disciplines in a single platform. It was conducted to facilitate the great ideas and findings from students, lecturers, scholars, and researchers and explore the opportunities in language learning and education facing the Global Challenging.
