> CCTL DISCUSSES THE POST-PANDEMIC STATE OF HIGHER EDUCATION AT CORENA 2021

Centre for Communication, Teaching & Learning (CCTL) took part in the Communication Research Seminar 2021 (CORENA 2021) organised by the Communication and Research Centre (COMET), Department of Communication, Abdulhamid Abusulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences International Islamic University Malaysia through an online platform.

The seminar was jointly organised by UTB through CCTL, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Universitas Lambung Mangkurat, and Prince of Songkhla University International College.

Carrying the theme 'Media and Communication in ASEAN: Living with COVID-19', the two-day seminar included a keynote speech, plenary session and three parallel sessions under the topic “The Post-pandemic State of Higher Learning Education in ASEAN”.

The invited speakers for the plenary session were Dr Norihan Abu Hassan, Dean of CCTL, and academicians from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Prince of Songkla University International College, and Universitas Lambung Mangkurat.

During the session, Dr Norihan presented a talk entitled The Post-Pandemic State of Higher Education in ASEAN: Experience from Universiti Teknologi Brunei. She highlighted that the COVID-19 post-pandemic has contributed to higher education in ASEAN in general and UTB in particular due to the massive shifts to online digital and distance learning away from learning and teaching in traditional settings with face-to-face interactions. UTB's experiences in handling the post-pandemic were also shared in the session regarding teaching and learning, assessment, and student support.

The parallel sessions saw six paper presentations from lecturers and students from CCTL as well as the School of Applied Sciences & Mathematics (SASM).

One of the presenters, Dr Malai Zeiti Sheikh Hamid, Assistant Professor, CCTL received the Best Presenter Award for her outstanding presentation entitled 'An Investigation of Digital Literacy Awareness and Rise on the Use of Digital Devices for Work & Study in Brunei'.

CORENA 2021 aimed to showcase the lecturers and students latest findings and studies relating to current issues especially COVID-19. Besides COVID-19, other concerns were also raised by participants for further discussion, thus boosting academic interest among all participants.
