> Bridging Engineering Knowledge and Industry Practice: FEng Lecture Series 2026 Explored Oil and Gas Equipment Inspection

The Faculty of Engineering (FEng), Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), strengthened industry-relevant engineering education through its FEng Lecture Series 2026, featuring a technical session titled “Inspection Awareness and Practical Demonstration of Oil and Gas Fixed Equipment” held on Thursday, 29 October 2026, at the Mechanical Engineering Laboratory Block, UTB.

The lecture featured industry experts Yang Mulia Dr Jeyasekhar and Yang Mulia Haji Abdur Rasyid from DNV GL Offshore and Industrial Services (B) Sdn Bhd, Brunei, who shared their professional expertise and practical insights into inspection practices and the operation of fixed equipment used in the oil and gas industry.

The session was moderated by Yang Mulia Dr Sheik Mohammed Sulthan from FEng, UTB, and attended by students and staff of the Faculty.

Through industry-based knowledge sharing and practical demonstrations, the session exposed participants to inspection methodologies, industry standards and technical considerations associated with the maintenance and integrity of fixed equipment in the oil and gas sector.

The lecture provided an opportunity for students to connect theoretical engineering knowledge with real-world industrial applications, while gaining a better understanding of the technical requirements and challenges encountered by engineering professionals in the field.

The FEng Lecture Series 2026 reflected the Faculty’s continued commitment to strengthening industry-academia engagement and delivering industry-relevant engineering education. By bringing experienced industry practitioners into the academic environment, UTB provided students with valuable professional exposure and insights into the competencies required to contribute to Brunei Darussalam’s oil and gas sector and wider engineering industry.
