> AITI and UTB sign collaborative agreement on 5G use cases

A collaborative agreement was signed today by the Authority for Info-Communications Technology Industry (AITI) of Brunei Darussalam with Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) on the initiative to showcase 5G use cases. The development of this agreement is following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two organisations earlier.
Signing on behalf of UTB was Yang Mulia Professor Dr. Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor; witnessed by Yang Mulia Dr. Mohamad Saiful bin Haji Omar, Dean of School of Computing and Informatics.

Representing AITI were Yang Mulia Ir. Haji Jailani bin Hj Buntar, Acting Chief Executive and Yang Mulia Norshahrul Nizam bin Othman, Assistant Chief Executive (Resource Management) as witness.

The event was attended by senior officials of AITI and UTB that took place at the Main Auditorium, Design & Technology building in Anggerek Desa. The collaborative agreement is to nurture the development of 5G use cases such as remote video monitoring, Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) applications, and advanced Smart Campus. Both AITI and UTB agree that this collaboration will be able to generate the development of use cases based on 5G capabilities and its ecosystem which will be carried out at UTB Campus.

The agreement aims to set up a 5G innovation technology lab in UTB to showcase the implementation of the prototype 5G use cases applications and initiatives which will benefit both parties. The availability of such a lab to explore possibilities of 5G use cases will open up opportunities to collaborate with relevant segments across industries and other academic institutions.
