UTB took part in the ASEAN-Australia Education Dialogue (AAED) webinar series 2022 on Digital Transformation of Higher Education in ASEAN and Australia with the county focus of Brunei Darussalam. The event was held virtually via Zoom platform.

The webinar focused on Digital Transformation (DX) in Southeast Asia and Australia, drawing on the experiences of UTB, UBD and Curtin University of Malaysia. The panelist of the webinar included UTB Vice-Chancellor, Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr. Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman; UBD Vice-Chancellor, Yang Mulia Dr. Hazri bin Haji Kifle and; Pro Vice-Chancellor and President of Curtin University Malaysia, Professor Simon Leunig.

The webinar was moderated by Ms Julie Wilkens McMahon, Regional Director (APAC), Times Higher Education. The event began with Yang Mulia Dr. Haji Azman bin Ahmad, Permanent Secretary of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE) and Ms Chintana Vongpaseuth, Australian Deputy High Commission in Brunei Darussalam presenting their remarks.

The webinar proceeds with the panelists discussing on their current DX steps and strategies of amidst with the current Coronavirus (COVID-19). The three universities talked about their findings on the effects and responses of online learnings from students, as well as the abrupt transition from in-person learning to virtual learning; preferences on mode of teaching such as face-to-face, blended or hybrid; as well as resources required to support DX particularly in teaching, learning and research.

The webinar concluded with a question-and-answer session.
