Forest fire incidents are becoming a major concern as they pose threats to the environment, economy and human’s safety. Research carried out by Dyg Safwanah Ni’matullah Binti Mohd Said as part of her master by coursework degree has identified forest fire hotspots using advanced hotspot analysis in the Geographical Information Systems (GIS). Her research also points to preventive measures to mitigate forest fires. Her research advances forest fire risk assessment and enables better management of Brunei’s pristine forests from fires.
Her research work was co-supervised by Dr El-Said Mamdouh Mahmoud Zahran and Dr Shahriar Shams and was recently published in The Open Civil Engineering Journal. (DOI: 10.2174/1874149501711010786).
