Classification System

> Classification System

The library collection is arranged systematically according to the Library of Congress Classification (LCC) Scheme. The classifications are divided into the 21 basic classes identified by the alphabet's letter. These alphabetical classes can be divided further into more specific subclasses identified by the combination of two letters. These classifications can be found on every library item's spine and named as a call number. The call numbers consist of alphabets and numbers denoting their arrangement on the shelves according to their subject category.

For example, a book titled “Aircraft Maintenance Management” by C. H. Friend with a call number of TL671.9 FRI.

TL Classification || Class T - Technology; Subclass TL - Motor vehicles, Aeronautics, Astronautics
671.9 Class number || Specified topics broken down by specified place, time, period or bibliographic forms
FRI The first three letters of the author's surname or the title (IF no author name is mentioned)

Therefore, library users must consult the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) station available at the library or use their own devices to obtain these call numbers for any required item.
