QS World University Ranking


Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) is an UK based company founded by Nunzio Quacquarelli and Matt Symonds. QS ranks and evaluates the reputation of universities using surveys received from researchers and employers, in addition to data submitted by institutions, Scopus-based publication citation frequency and internationalisation of the universities.

QS World University Ranking uses six indicators namely

  • Academic Reputation – External academic’ evaluations of a university’s teaching and research (40%)
  • Employer Reputation – Employers’ evaluations of graduates from the university (10%)
  • Faculty Student Ratio – Numbers of students mentored by a academic (20%)
  • Citations Per Faculty – Number of citations in scholarly journals indexed by Scopus (20%)
  • International Faculty – Proportion of international academic staffs. (5%)
  • International Students – Proportion of international students (5%)
