UTB VISITS BRUNEI FERTILIZER INDUSTRIES SITE

12 April 2019 – A group of 27 students from Mechanical Engineering Programme Area, Faculty of Engineering visited the Brunei Fertilizer Industries Sendirian Berhad (BFI) site at the Sungai Liang Industrial Park.

The site visit was organised by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers of UTB (iMechE-UTB) Student Chapter and led by the Academic Liaison Officer of The iMech-UTB Students Chapter, Yang Mulia Dr. Judha Purbolaksono. Other lecturers from UTB, Yang Mulia Professor Ramesh Singh and Yang Mulia Dr. Naseem Uddin also joined the visit.

At BFI, the delegation was greeted by the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager, Yang Mulia Mr. Yap Fah Heng along with other staff from the company.

During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the overview of BFI followed by a tour at the housing site for the BFI staff and the potential location for jetty/port to transfer the BFI products.

The visit was aimed to learn and gain exposure on real industrial works such as the challenges, requirements, planning and constructions, health and safety issues and to understand about BFI as one of the newly developed ongoing industries in Brunei Darussalam that is expected to fully operate by 2022. Discussions on future collaborations between UTB and BFI were also discussed during the visit.
