27 JULY 2020 – Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) and Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Lecture Theatre 2, Library Complex, UTB.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Guest of Honour, Yang Mulia Professor Dr. Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB. The MOU was signed by the Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Research), Yang Mulia Professor Dr Mohamed Hasnain Isa for UTB, while signing on behalf of IBTE was Chief Executive Officer, Yang Mulia Dr Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli.
Under the MoU, UTB and IBTE will work together to raise the quality of teaching and learning as well as research in the Sultanate, especially in the field of Agri-food and sustainable farming.
The purpose of the MoU is to expand collaboration in pure and applied scientific research in agriculture technology, farming and Agri-food. The main objective of this collaboration is to enhance Agri-food productivity particularly paddy production as well as to transform the national Agri-business sector towards modernisation and sustainability.
Activities under the MoU includes short term research projects, training courses, long-term field research, work placement for undergraduate and postgraduate students, and sharing of facilities such as equipment, laboratories and farm fields.
In addition, UTB Research Thrusts and Research Centres have initiated a number of projects on smart agriculture platform at AgroBiz paddy farming project fields (LiveWIRE) located at IBTE Agro Technology Campus (IBTE ATC) in Wasan.
