25 May 2019 – In the spirit of the holy month of Ramadhan, the Office of Student Affairs and the UTB Student Representative Council 2019/2020 (MPPUTB) organised a charity drive, UTB Ramadhan Drive 2.0 on Saturday.
Staff, students, volunteers and Estates Office from UTB as well as interns from Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) participated in the Ramadhan charity drive.
The donations were delivered to five underprivileged families such as senior citizens and orphans residing in the Brunei-Muara district. Amongst the selected less fortunate families were a 71-year old man; a two-time stroke survivor aged 72 living with his adopted son who had to quit his job to care for her; a couple aged almost 70 who are living with their 15-year old daughter; a family of 11; and siblings with an absent parent that are lacking sufficient general child welfare support.
The charity drive began its fundraising activities internally amongst Staff and Students of UTB since 15 April 2019. UTB Ramadhan Drive 2.0 managed to collect a total of BND$3,020.00 and countless donation in-kind items for the underprivileged. Amongst the items donated were basic food supplies, cleaning supplies, toiletries and Hari Raya biscuits/snacks.
This Ramadhan drive was aimed at alleviating the burden of the less fortunate especially during this holy month of blessings.
