28 February 2019 – SIX representatives from Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) attended the Enhancing Tertiary Engineering Education Programme that was held in Singapore on 18-28 February 2019. The representatives were the Deputy Deans and Programme Leaders of the Faculty of Engineering (FEng) and School of Design (SDe).
There were a total of ninety participants from nine ASEAN countries who joined the education programme. The facilitators of the programme were from Singapore Polytechnic; Inje University and Yeungnam University from the Republic of Korea (ROK).
The programme was organised by the Singapore Polytechnic, with the sponsorship of the ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Fund. The programme was introduced to the participants with the Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate (CDIO) teaching and learning framework for engineering education, of which Singapore Polytechnic is the Regional CDIO Centre in Asia.
CDIO was originally implemented in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from the United States, and has since expanded to over 130 schools around the world. It provides a framework for implementing innovative engineering education through the use of student projects, active and collaborative learning experiences, and the involvement of stakeholders including industry.
