4 May 2021 – Committed to giving back to the community, Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) continued to enliven Ramadhan by organising sungkai gathering events and disseminating breaking of the fast distributions – Program Sungkai. It is one of the charitable activities organised under the UTB’s Ramadhan Drive 4.0.
Program Sungkai is a student-led project where the volunteers include students from the Community Service and Voluntary Club, EXCO of Community Service & Project, EXCO of Religious and Spiritual Affairs, Campus L.E.A.D., and a group of Postgraduate students.
About 90 packs of cooked meals were delivered in time for iftar to selected mosques in Brunei-Muara district and donated to the congregants for a week starting 28 April 2021. Sungkai gathering events were also organised at special needs centers which include Pusat Bahagia and Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Mariam in both Brunei-Muara and Kuala Belait.
This year’s Ramadhan Drive 4.0, over BND$8,000 and countless in-kind items were received from staff and students of the university collected since 7 April 2021. Other charity drives that have been conducted under Ramadhan Drive 4.0 were Donation Drive for Underprivileged Families, Program Wakaf, Donation for Islamic Cemeteries’ Needs, and Donation for Orphans.
