06 June 2018 – Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) held a Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony at UTB’s Multi-purpose Hall to mark the conclusion of the Tadarus programme for the month of Ramadhan 1439 for the university’s staff. The annual collective reading by UTB staff of the holy Quran commenced at the start of Ramadhan, organised as a mean to seek the pleasure of Allah SWT and rewards through Qur’an reading and reflection. The programme was also organised to glorify the holy month of Ramadhan, the month of the Qur’an. The Guest of Honour at the ceremony was the Vice-Chancellor of UTB, Yang Mulia Professor Dr. Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Haji Ady Syarmin bin Haji Md Taib, Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Services) followed by the recitation of Surah Ad-Dhuha until Surah Al-Masad by the participants. Subsequently, Takhtim was read and concluded with the Doa Khatam by Ustaz Mohd Fazalley bin Hj Hidup, and Dikir Marhaban. The Guest of Honour then presented souvenirs to female khatam participants, and the Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Services) presented to the male participants.
The ceremony continued with the presentation of donations to 33 orphan students in UTB by the Guest of Honour. The ceremony concluded with the Doa Selamat led by Pg Muhammad Fakhrullah bin Pg Hj Hamdillah.
