06 October 2018 – Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) held an Award Ceremony for the Dean’s List and Co-Curricular Activities in conjunction with the UTB Convocation Ceremony 2018.

The Guest of Honour at the ceremony was Yang Mulia Datin Seri Paduka Dr. Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, Acting Minister of Education. Also present at the ceremony were Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Jefriah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien; other members of the royal family; Yang Mulia Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB, and senior officials from the MOE and UTB.

The ceremony began with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat followed by a Welcoming Speech by the Vice-Chancellor of UTB. It was then followed by the award presentation to the students by the Guest of Honour.

This year, a total of 29 students received the Dean’s List Award in their respective programmes from UTB School of Business, School of Computing and Informatics, and Faculty of Engineering.

The Dean’s List Award was introduced in 2015, which gives recognition to first, second, and third year students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement in their studies. These students are the top 5% in their respective fields.

Meanwhile seven students who have excelled in their co-curricular activities also received their awards. There are six award categories for the Co-Curricular Activities: ‘Outstanding Life Skill Achiever’, ‘Outstanding Community Service Achiever’, ‘Outstanding Cultural Activities Award’, ‘Sports Man of UTB’, ‘Sports Woman of UTB’ and ‘Religious Awards’.

Amongst the recipients was Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Muhammad ‘Abdul Qayyum Bin Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sura Negara Pengiran Anak Haji Muhammad Bey Muntassir, where Yang Amat Mulia received the ‘Outstanding Community Service Achiever’ for his contributions to the community whilst at the University.
