28 March 2019 – Today, Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) launched their energy efficient car at the Main Lobby of the University. The car was given the name “Pahlawan IV”.
The launch of “Pahlawan IV”, was officiated by the Guest of Honour, Yang Mulia Dr. Dayang Hjh Noor Maya binti Hj Mohd Salleh, Acting Vice-Chancellor of UTB. The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat led by Yang Mulia Ustaz Mohammad Fazalley bin Hj Hidup, Head of Religious Affairs of UTB. The Guest of Honour delivered a welcoming remark followed by a speech from Yang Mulia Awang Louay Syaddie Haddag bin Abdul Gafur, Team Manager of UTB Eco-Drive Team.
The “Pahlawan IV” was sponsored by Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP), Brunei LNG, Brunei Shell Marketing (BSM), Brunei Gas Carrier Sendirian Berhad (BGC), Amec Foster Wheeler, Sprintville Technologies, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD), Progresif Cellular, Mashhor General Contractor Sendirian Berhad, CIC Environmental Services, BruGPS Technologies, Swagelok (Bruwell Valve), Danawan Technologies Sendirian Berhad, Al-Huffaz Management, Othman & Associates, BMC Food Industries, Tendrill International, Zell Transportation, Indec Enterprise Sendirian Berhad, Aisha Automation Company, Lagenda Clothing and Student Representative Council of UTB (MPPUTB).
The UTB Eco-Drive Team will be representing UTB and Brunei Darussalam in the upcoming Shell Eco Marathon Asia 2019 competition that will be held from 29 April to 2 May 2019 at Sepang International Circuit, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The prestigious upcoming competition challenges students to design, build and drive an energy efficient car. The competition is categorized into two main categories, the Urban concept and Prototype concept. In the following categories, the team may choose between hydrogen fuel, electric battery or solar powered. This year, the team’s vehicle will be competing in the Prototype Concept using electric battery.
