8 August 2019 – UTB received a visit from from Sakai-ASEAN Week programme representative at the Emerald room of the University.

The delegate, Ms. Mami Takimoto, Section Advisor of ASEAN Exchange Promotion Division from Sakai City Government was welcomed by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Yang Mulia Awang Haji Ady Syarmin bin Haji Md Taib and Programme Leader of School of Computing and Informatics (SCI), Yang Mulia Dr. Hajah Nor Zainah binti Haji Siau. The meeting focused on the feedbacks from past participant and preparations for the upcoming programme.

Sakai-ASEAN Week was established in 2009 in commemoration of the 120th anniversary of the municipalisation of Sakai city, Japan. The programme is intended to strengthen the relationship between ASEAN countries and Sakai in terms of economic, cultural, tourism and educational exchange. This would be the 4th time since 2016 that Sakai City Government has invited UTB students to be part of the programme. This year’s programme representing UTB will be Yang Mulia Awang Abdul Hadi bin Haji Mohaimin who are currently undertaking MSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. The programme will take place for two weeks starting on 7 October 2019.
