INTERNATIONAL ADVISORY PANEL COMMITTEE (IAP)

Introduction

The International Advisory Panel Committee (IAP) is a selected group of people who act as informed advisors on issues of importance to the University as it continues to expand its international global scope and efforts. IAP provides advice and support in helping UTB maintain and enhance its position as one of the most forward looking global university of teaching, learning and research. IAP plays an important role in the strategy of the university. The members will help to shape university’s Vision and provide strategic advices.

Mission

To provide external perspectives and review as well as advocacy and support for the university’s vision, programmes, strategic directions, and overall objectives.

Meetings

IAP holds meetings at least once a year (1-2 day(s) meeting) and/or on an as-needed basis by Skype.

THE 1ST UTB INTERNATIONAL ADVISORY PANEL COMMITTEE MEETING

The first UTB International Advisory Panel (IAP) Committee meeting was held on 7th and 8th November 2016 in Brunei Darussalam.  The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor UTB and attended by four members of the International Advisory Panel namely:

 

  • Professor Mark Spearing, Vice-President (Research and Enterprise), University of Southampton, United Kingdom
  • Professor Soo-Young Lee Director Brain Science Research Center Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), South Korea
  • Professor Jackie Y.Ying Executive Director Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (IBN), Singapore
  • Adjunct Professor Soon Loo CEO Darussalam Enterprise

 

Present at the meeting were the Assistant Vice Chancellors, Principal Officers and UTB’s senior officers.

At the meeting, the IAP members discussed on the university’s plans and directions and a sharing session was also held between the distinguished professors with all UTB staff and lecturers on best practices of their respective institutions on 8th November 2016.
