FIRE PREVENTION WEEK AT UTB

7 October 2019 – In conjunction with the UTB 6th Convocation Festival, a Fire Prevention Week was held starting today at the University campus. The event is co-organised by the Student Affairs Office, UTB Student Representative Council (MPPUTB) and ExCo Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) of MPPUTB.

Today, a talk from Fire and Rescue Headquarters was held at the Concourse, UTB. About 45 comprised of staff and students were enlightened with the fire demonstrations and talk given by Yang Mulia Awang Haji Kipla bin Haji Angas, Station Officer from Fire and Rescue Department. Also present at the talk was the Deputy Dean of Student Affairs Office, Yang Mulia Dr. Haji Rajul Adli bin Haji Asli.

The invited speaker explained about the roles of their department, gave an understanding and insight into the various types of firefighting equipment and how to implement them. The audience also learned how to prevent fire from occurring, and in the event of fire, how to protect people and property.

The event aimed to educate the public and raise public awareness on safety aspects and fire prevention measures.
