EARTH HOUR 2019

30 March 2019 – UTB celebrated Earth Hour 2019 at the Isle Garden of the University Campus. The event was organised by the Health Safety Security Environment (HSSE) and Publicity and Info-Communication Technology (PICT) Executive Committee (ExCo) of the Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar Universiti Teknologi Brunei (MPPUTB).

The event was attended by the students of the University. A welcoming remark was delivered by the Co-Chairperson, The Head ExCo of HSSE, Yang Mulia Dayang Nur Husna Kamilah binti Abdullah. She highlighted the importance of participating Earth Hour which will in turn help to save the Earth and change the world for the better for future generations.

The lights at the Isle Garden went off for an hour at 8:30pm to mark this year’s Earth Hour. There were also several activities conducted such as hand painting banner where attendees paint or write messages on saving the earth and environment to spread awareness amongst youth.

The event concluded with a speech by the Co-Chairperson, The Head ExCo of PICT, Yang Mulia Awang Afiq Mirza bin Azlan where he emphasized on the impact of climate change and how Earth Hour can help spread the awareness.

Earth Hour is an annual worldwide movement organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to help raise awareness on the importance of saving energy by turning the lights off for an hour.
