"Innovations for Society 5.0"
Today, the world has exceptionally benefited from the technological advancement the world-class scientists and engineers have contributed to the global society. The Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0) has been the backbone for the extensive technological growth which focuses on industry development. This allows the emergence of new businesses through major changes in business model, by involving digitalization of process production in various sectors. Society 5.0 focuses on making humans at the centre of the technological development, which is a step further of IR 4.0. Society 5.0 uses the advanced interconnectivity technology, in which it acts as a catalyst to create a balance between technology as a medium for economic growth and as a means to improve way of lives and social welfare of people.
Society 5.0 is the integration of the first four era societies; hunter gatherer, agricultural, industrial and information. The fifth society, also called super-smart society; interconnects the online with the offline that envisions a sustainable, inclusive socio-economic system, powered by digital technologies such as Big Data analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) and Robotics*
CIPTA 2021 competition emphasises on multi-dimensional technological innovations to reach out to the needs of the global society. The theme "Innovations for Society 5.0" has been developed as a platform to initiate innovation across Brunei Darussalam and other ASEAN countries, in addressing the 17 elements of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in giving impact to the society as a whole. Brunei Darussalam has given profound observations on the IR 4.0. CIPTA 2021 complements the direction of the country to another level through Society 5.0 which aims to use the potential of digital transformation not only for economic growth, but as an extended far-reaching landscape to transform our way of life by addressing prolonged social challenges
CIPTA 2021 welcomes visionary pioneers and young innovators within Brunei Darussalam and other ASEAN countries to participate in the competition. Together, we all can share and build a dynamic technological ecosystem for the ASEAN community.
The theme is very much in-line with Brunei Darussalam's 2035 vision and His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'ízzaddin Waddaulah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Saádul Khari Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam’s Titah for Brunei Darussalam to actively implement digital transformation toward stable economic landscape for the country, as well as to respond to Brunei Darussalam's directions towards achieving the vision to be a Smart Nation.
